What we do
Online editing
Well, it sounds so easy: we deal with
a new medium which mainly consists of texts. Great! Why don't
we simply copy texts from magazines, newspapers, or radio
broadcasts and paste them into our webpages? Word has spread
at last that it is not that easy. The web is a medium of its
own, therefore different rules and criteria with regards to
online editing refer to writing for the web. These rules and
criteria have been worked out by Melanie Wieland and Matthias
Spielkamp. In seminars and trainings we point out the »dos«
and »dont's« of online editing, develop usability
criteria for journalistic websites, and practise the specialities
of online writing with the participants.
Website concepts
What does ist help if a websites
looks beautiful, but you do not find what you were looking
for? Is it any good for users if the website is cutting edge
technology, but its contents are poor? The seminar »Website
concepts« deals with the process at the very beginning
of every site: with the concept. With techniques that even
rather well-known desgin companies work with we do not only
train creativity, but create ideas, develop navigational concepts,
and fitting contents for specialised user target groups. The
goal is to develop concepts for really unique websites.
Online research
Well, we all know that the internet is
full of information. Unfortunately, if you do not know how
to look up this information it will stay hidden for you. What
good is it, then, to have all this knowledge in one place,
if you do not know how to search the internet? Or if you can't
find what you are looking for, because you do not really know
how to search? The »online research« seminar teaches
how to search the internet from basic to elaborate strategies.
The trainings vary from one day to five days.
Concepts
We do not only teach to develop unique
website concepts. Melanie Wieland also works as an online
concepter. She does not only focus on the mere concept, but
also does editorial consulting for the website to be, including
style, tonality, content management systems, even the journalistic
approach of the future contents of the website.
Usability Lab
Since we developed criteria for the usability
of websites, we, of course, offer our knowledge to you. We
offer usability consultings for your website, advise which
parts to change and which to keep as they are. We research
navigational concepts, what users expect on your website,
whether they can use it or not with regards to their needs.
Last, not least, we develop ideas how to optimize your website
- always looking at the user.
